CLIMATE

Colorado has emerged as a national leader in combating climate change and addressing environmental injustice. Our state is headed toward 100 percent renewable energy, cracking down on methane pollution from oil drilling and leading the nation in electric vehicle adoption. However, there’s more work to be done.

The actions Colorado and other states take in the coming years are critical to ensuring the U.S. meets its climate goals. Research shows that even in the face of federal inaction or rollbacks, bold state-level initiatives can help achieve significant progress—up to 62 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035—ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future.

PUBLIC LANDS

We work to protect what makes Colorado beautiful — our stunning public lands with breathtaking mountains, open spaces, rushing rivers and vast wildlife.

These lands are vital to Colorado’s economy and way of life, creating jobs through tourism, recreation and agriculture. However, they face growing threats from pollution, development, and policies from the Trump administration that aim to sell off public lands to the highest bidder and weaken environmental protections. The future of our public lands is at risk, and without action, we could lose what makes Colorado so special.

WATER

Since 2000, Colorado has faced its worst drought in over 1,200 years, with climate change driving hotter, drier conditions. Colorado’s water supply—essential for drinking, agriculture, wildlife and recreation—is shrinking and our population will only continue to grow. Meanwhile, toxins are polluting our water, posing serious health risks.

In 2024, after the Supreme Court revoked long-standing clean water protections, Colorado led the nation by passing laws to safeguard wetlands and streams, covering over 60 percent of the state’s waters. We also advanced legislation to conserve water, improve mining permits and remove toxic pollutants. But there’s more work to do.

Conservation Colorado Education Fund is working to protect our rivers, streams and lakes from the impacts of climate change, drought and pollution. Together, we can ensure a healthy future for Colorado’s water.
